a segment from ABC's HEALTHY WOMAN warned us about our lack of concern about

Scientists have been studying the effects of the pollutants in our water, in
the air, and in 
cleaning
products for decades. Their
conclusion? The combination of breathing the poisons and absorbing
them through our skin from generation to generation has resulted in a
catastrophic epidemic of health problems.
A recent report from the EPA stated: "Because these mutagens damage DNA, children are even more at risk than adults because as they grow, children's cells divide more rapidly than the cells of adults, perpetuating that damage". "Faster division of cells for children is normal." "Of course, the problem is that cells mirror and make copies. A cell containing the mutant, or altered gene will never again make a cell with the perfect gene and will continue copying the imperfect gene".

eating disorder, the researchers say.

the reasons for an epidemic of obesity, some researchers have begun to link
several mutant genes to obesity, which raises the risk for heart disease,
diabetes and many other ailments. The study is in The New England Journal of
Medicine.
